Our CLC’s earn top marks!

Housing & Community Services, Inc. (HCS) recently received special recognition from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Neighborhood Networks for six of its affiliated properties. The six properties were awarded Certified Classification status for their Community Learning Centers (CLC), meaning that each has met and exceeded the HUD Neighborhood Networks Center standards. Created in 1995, Neighborhood Networks was one of the first federal initiatives aimed at promoting self-sufficiency and providing technology access to residents living in HUD and Federal Housing Administration (FHA)-insured and –assisted communities (www. Hud.gov)
The Community Learning Centers are located at the following HCS properties:  Harrison Manor Apartments and Robinhood Apartments, Harlingen; Bavarian Manor Apartments, New Braunfels; Casa de Manana Apartments and Samuel Place Apartments, Corpus Christi; and Vista Verde Apartments, San Antonio. Each CLC conducts a variety of programming and makes available numerous services to residents as well as members of the surrounding neighborhood, such as after school tutoring and mentoring activities, computer skills training and other educational opportunities, seniors programs, job resources, case management referrals and many others.

Congratulations to the staffs at each of these newly recognized CLC’s and thanks for your continued efforts!
